Court Theatre’s upcoming production of PHOTOGRAPH 51 shines a spotlight on pioneering scientist Rosalind Franklin, so we’re shining a light on girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)! Women make up half of the total U.S. college-educated workforce, but less than a third of the science and engineering workforce. And, the statistics for women of color are even more abysmal. PHOTOGRAPH 51 gives us an opportunity to celebrate and encourage young girls to pursue their STEM dreams.
We invite middle and high school students to share their interests in STEM fields by completing the survey below. Responses and photos (optional) may be showcased as part of a unique PHOTOGRAPH 51 lobby display representing the future of women in STEM. Plus, participants will receive a discount code for tickets to attend PHOTOGRAPH 51 at Court Theatre in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood.
Plus, consider attendingĀ our stEMPOWER HER event on the afternoon of February 9 for an open-house-style gathering and learn more about STEM opportunities and programs around Chicago.
