Thank you for your interest! Below, you’ll find information about script and casting submissions. We review every submission we receive, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your work.

Script Submissions

As an institution dedicated to the cultivation of a different kind of canon, we understand the necessity of new work. We will only consider script submissions that evolve, advance, or challenge the notion of classic theatre. Court Theatre defines classic theatre as texts from any culture, tradition, or era that resonate throughout time and speak to our present moment.

If your work fits the description above, we will gladly accept a treatment. Treatment submissions should be no longer than seven pages and include the following:

  • A cover letter articulating how your piece aligns with Court’s mission
  • A brief synopsis
  • No more than five pages of drafted material

All script treatments should be submitted using this form. Please do not submit your full script

Our artistic team reviews every submission, but – due to the volume we receive – we are unable to personally respond to each one in detail. If we’re interested in discussing your submission further, we will follow up with you directly. Submissions are reviewed quarterly. We appreciate your patience.

Casting Submissions

We’re committed to developing relationships with the Chicago actors who reflect our city and we’re always looking to expand our network. At this time, we are only accepting submissions from Chicago local hires.

If you’re not familiar with who we are and what we do, check out our mission. If this resonates with you as an artist and you’d like to be considered for upcoming projects, we will gladly accept a submission. Submissions should include the following:

  • An acting resume
  • A headshot
  • A brief note articulating how your interests align with Court’s mission and/or work (optional)
    • We’d love to hear more about what brought you here! In a few sentences, tell us about what excites you about the project or Court Theatre.

All submissions should be submitted using this form.  Our casting team reviews submissions on a rolling basis, but – due to the volume we receive – we are unable to respond to each one. If we’re interested in having you audition, we will follow up with you directly. We appreciate your patience.

If you’re interested in inviting a member of our Artistic Team (including Casting) to attend a production or showcase, please reach out via this email

Connect with Court

We love connecting with artists across the country. While we typically focus on artists from or currently living in Chicago (specifically on the South Side), we regularly attend workshops, performances, festivals and other events to expand our network. If you would like to invite us to an upcoming event, please email the details to info@courttheatre.org.
