Court’s Engagement programs build on our desire to foster and sustain meaningful relationships beyond our theatre walls, including our work with teens, educators, our cultural peers, and residents of the South Side. These programs allow us to learn – from the community – how we can continue to develop new offerings that explore perspectives on storytelling and the art of theatre-making that resonate with them.
Find out more about our programs:
Spotlight Reading Series: Our mission is to introduce Chicagoans to the rarely produced written works and ideas of Black artists, in an effort to honor and illuminate their contributions to the theatrical canon.
Agora Series: Public discussions in which thinkers, creatives, and activists share bold ideas and shed light on the lived experiences of Chicagoans today. The Agora series connects the ideas on our stage with current civic and social events.
Education Initiative: The Court Education Initiative (CEI) expands the organization’s mission into local learning communities. Through partnerships with South Side high schools, professional development for teachers, student matinee performances, and robust Learning Guides for every production, we enhance the link between the art on our stage and the innate curiosity of our audiences.
Partners in Community (PIC): Our Partners in Community council is designed to reflect the spectrum of stakeholders that make our programs at Court Theatre increasingly resonant, responsive, and inclusive.
University Partners Initiative (UPI): As the professional theatre of the University of Chicago, Court partners with the campus community in a myriad of ways; in addition to a robust discount ticket program for students, we offer special performances for campus constituents, alumni nights, affinity group programming, and more. |
