Has it been a while since you read The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark? Review this character map (courtesy of Ivy Panda) and these videos to brush up on your knowledge of this Shakespearian classic at the root of Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.

Note: If viewing these videos with students, consider watching them first to select the video most appropriate for the group’s needs; some contain strong language.

A diagram shows the relationship between Hamlet and other characters in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Hamlet appears in the center of the circle, surrounded by nine other characters. Queen Gertrude is his mother, who married his uncle, the new King Claudius. Hamlet’s dead father was Claudius’s brother. Three of Hamlet’s friends are pictured: Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern. Polonius is King Claudius’s spy and the father of Ophelia, who used to be in a relationship with Hamlet. Her brother Laertes is also pictured. The diagram shows that Hamlet killed Polonius and dueled Laertes.
