The Court Theatre Education Initiative is excited to present a brand-new professional development opportunity for teachers, called Dramatic Literacy: Unlocking Text-Based Play. This two-and-a-half-day workshop will invite participants to develop curriculum-building skills centered in theatre-based practices through partnered activities, field experience, and learning sessions.
Court Education’s ethos is rooted in culturally responsive teaching, and participants will leave the workshop with refreshed art integration concepts, tangible tools for accessing relevant plays for their classrooms, and a deeper understanding of their own literacy with culturally diverse dramatic texts. We are thrilled to be able to offer ISBE-approved CPDU credits to participants through our collaboration with Ingenuity, Inc.
The 2024 Dramatic Literacy series will take place in August at Court Theatre’s Production Center (5410 S. State Street) and at The Understudy Coffee and Books (5531 N Clark St).
